Kumho AT52 go anywhere tyres
The AT52’s from Kumho Tyres is an off-road tyre designed for Jeeps, SUVs and light trucks. These Kumho Tyres offer solid off-road performance over a number of challenging surfaces. On the side wall of the tyre you’ll see that it has the three peaked mountain snowflake symbol which indicates the tyre will perform well in heavy snow. To aid performance on the road the AT52 from Kumho Tyres has been engineered with a double tread compound, a symmetrical tread pattern, and a high clearance pattern so that the tyre can perform just as well on the road as it does off it.
The Legend
The Toyota Hilux is a legend amongst motor vehicles and for many around the world it is the benchmark for which all other working Pick Up Trucks are compared against. The Japanese car giant Toyota first started manufacturing the Hilux way back in 1968 and the early model came with an inline 4 cylinder engine producing 76bhp. The Hilux’s rise can be charted back to the late 1980’s and early 90’s when its distinctive shape began to form and was seen more and more on the UK roads.
Fast forward to 2025 and after 57 years of production the Toyota Hilux is a hard working vehicle that can go anywhere. That said the choice of tyres you choose to have fitted plays a significant role within that claim. Not that long ago in our Bush Tyres Horncastle depot they had the pleasure of fitting a set of At52 Kumho Tyres to a brand new set of black Rhino Morocco alloy wheels.
Expert Service
The team at our Horncastle after fitting the tyres to the new alloy rims, and as with all newly fitted tyres, they placed counter balance weights around the rim of the wheel, these added weights balance out the heavy spot of the tyre. This process prevents unwanted vibrations from the tyre and wheel as it spins. These vibrations can be felt through the steering column and in the cabin if the wheels are not correctly balanced.
Wheel balancing machines work by spinning a mounted tyre at speed and by using electronic sensors they detect weight imbalances and indicate exactly where and how much counterweight needs to be added to the rim to ensure even weight distribution.
Normally silver coloured weights are applied to the metal rim as counter weights, however in this case black weights were fitted as to not distract the eye from the stunning gloss black alloy wheels.
As a final finish, and to ensure that the owner of the Hilux received the optimal performance from their Kumho Tyres, the team installed all new TPMS sensors and performed a full wheel alignment to bring the rolling geometry of the Hilux back to Toyota’s original factory specification.
To perform such a task we use state of the art computerised wheel alignment systems. Special panels are attached to the four wheels which allows the computer to calculate precisely the position of each wheel. Adjustments can then be carefully made to each wheel to gently bring the wheels back into alignment. Correct wheel alignment leads to better tyre life, fuel economy and handling.
