The Bush Tyres Norwich team repair puncture on a 1966 Morris L.D.5. ambulance.
Bush Tyres Norwich were called out to a slightly unusual puncture repair last week, a front puncture repair on this beautiful 1966 Morris L.D.5. ambulance. This ambulance, formerly used by the City of Norwich Ambulance Service, is believed to be one of the only diesels (Engine 2.2 Diesel) of its type to survive.
Named ‘Daisy’, this vintage ambulance is now used for special occasions such as shows and funerals, so it was important it was repaired and back up and running.
Daisy was one of a fleet of 12 ambulances and entered service in 1966 at the Bethel Street station. Used on the ‘frontline’ until 1976, it was loaned to a Great Yarmouth hospital for use as a patient runabout. After a period of neglect, it was returned to Norwich where it was preserved. It has never been out of ambulance ownership.
