All Hail The Legendary Porsche 911 Turbo

The Porsche 911 Turbo (Type 964)

With the latest instalment in the Bad Boys film franchise out in cinemas this month, our Bush Tyres Horncastle depot had a visit from one of the stars of the original 1995 film, the 911 Turbo (964).

Now that’s how you supposed to drive! From now on that’s how you drive!

Ever since Will Smith’s character, Mike Lowrey shouted these words to Marcus (Martin Lawrence) in the closing scenes of the original film, petrolheads have lusted for one of the only 1500 or so examples of the now iconic Porsche 911 3.6 Turbo (type 964)!

Originally released in 1990, with a 3.3 litre flat six, later cars got a 3.6 litre upgrade. Now producing 355bhp and equipped with a special bypass on the exhaust to allow the car to shed unwanted back pressure and enhance performance. Ideal for outrunning criminal masterminds in Hollywood Blockbusters, or just as comfortable cruising the mean streets of Lincolnshire! The original black Porsche 911 featured in the film was once owned by Director Michael Bay himself.

This customer’s car is very close in specification to that example, it has all the same scoops and wing features as the four wheeled star. The biggest difference is the colour, Amazon Green Metallic which you could even argue looks even better than the black car in the sunshine.

Michelin Original Fitment

When launched, the Porsche 911 Turbo had these incredible 3 piece 18” Speedline alloy wheels fitted as a factory option, they will always have been wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Tyres. The latest ultra-high-performance (UHP) tyre from this range is the Pilot Sport ‘4S’ (PS4S). Without moving into the full semi slick, street legal track tyre option of the CUP2 range, the PS4S is the perfect choice for all round driving conditions. Offering fantastic high-performance grip and especially in mixed driving and wet conditions compared to other tyres in the range.

Fitted here in 225/40ZR18 front and 285/30ZR18 rear sizes, the tyre offers even higher performance levels than the Pilot Sport from when the car was launched, modern tyre technology only adding to the driver experience in this case.

These special wheels also required use of the Haweka quick plate adapter for the most accurate Hub Centric Balancing using high quality Traxx coated balance weights for the ultimate finish. The Porsche then moved over to the four-post lift and had a full four-wheel alignment check and adjustment carried out to factory settings. The results, one very satisfied customer, a stunning car ready for its next journey, wherever that may be?

Maybe the runway at the Lincolnshire aviation centre for a quick re-enactment of Bad Boys scenes with the Lancaster bomber ‘Just Jane’ or maybe just a nice quiet Sunday drive? We will let you decide!
