The BA Bush purchasing team have been working with a new supplier partner, Kumho Tyres. This well-established mid-range tyre will be sold alongside the expanding range of quality and value tyres we provide at Bush Tyres.

Kumho Tyres are a South Korean manufacturer with 3 factories in Korea, as well as 3 others in mainland China, one in Vietnam and one in the USA.

Kumho was founded in 1960, over 63 years ago by Park In-Chon. Kumho are a truly Global tyre manufacturer with presence in over 180 countries. The company employs over 5000 people and can produce over 68 million tyres per year.

In 2017 it was announced ownership of the company would be transferred to Doublestar in a $607m deal. The deal completed in 2018. Doublestar, already a global player in predominantly Truck/Bus tyres now had a significant share of the car tyre market through the acquisition.

The deal would take total turnover of the group to over $3,56 Billion per year and make it number 11 in the listing of largest manufacturers in the world at the time.

The company also has 3 large research centres, one in South Korea, one in Ohio USA and one here in Birmingham, UK.

Kumho hold 3 key original equipment (OE) fitments within the top 5 largest car manufacturers. They produce tyres for Cars Vans and Trucks and have tyres to suit all weather conditions. They even produce tyres for motorsport including Auto GP and at one time even developed tyres for use in the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1.

New Generation Isuzu D-Max

The new Kumho AT52 all terrain tyre is perfect for the Isuzu D-Max. This new design now has more tread, extending tyre life with a promise of up to 20% greater mileage, with no compromise on performance.

The AT52 was launched in the early part of 2022, it replaced the outgoing AT51 tyre and is available in 54 sizes ranging from 15-20” in size. The AT52 has a durable, cut-and-chip resistant tread compound that is moulded into a symmetric pattern engineered to balance off-road capabilities with on-road comfort and even wear characteristics.

It also carries the 3PSMF marking, making it road-legal for driving in Europe during winter months. The team at Horncastle immediately noted the tyre has good tread blocks and impressive looking side walls perfect for the country roads around Lincolnshire.
