This stunning Ferrari FF V12 supercar visited our Darlington Branch at the start of spring for a new pair of front PZERO F01 Tyres.

The Ferrari FF V12 Supercar

Going back, it’s not hard to find a Ferrari grand tourer with a huge displacement, naturally aspirated V12. The FF is still one of the most usable applications of a V12 ever produced. A very usable car with 2+2 full size seats. This is the ultimate grand tourer, made in a time before the introduction of smaller displacement engines with turbo chargers.

The focus on newer models now placed on fuel efficiency and stricter emission controls. Newer cars often have higher performance figures, but nothing quite compares to the way a huge, normally aspirated V12 delivers its power, singing all the way to the 8250rpm rev limit!

Max power is 650hp and torque is 683Nm, this results in a 0-62 time of under 3.7 seconds and a top speed of over 208mph.

The FF was introduced in 2011 as successor to the 612 Scaglietti and only replaced in 2016 with the GTC4 lusso. On release Ferrari claimed the FF as the fastest four seat automobile in the world.

It was the largest engine Ferrari ever produced at 6.3L. The engine powers the wheels through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and the all new light weight and switchable four wheel drive system called 4RM.

This system only operates in 4-wheel drive when “sport” or “snow” settings are selected on the “Manettino dial”. The car is still mostly driven in rear-wheel-drive modes, leading to one of the most exciting driving experiences ever available in a vehicle with 4 seats.

The Pirelli PZERO FO1 Tyre

The team at our Darlington branch  made sure to install the correct FO1 fitment front tyres in 245/35ZR20 (95Y) PZ FO1. The fitters following the same process as Ferrari at every step on the install. From initial jacking through to wheel torque settings and procedures. The install was carried out to the same high standards as expected from Ferrari.

The FO1 marking tells us the tyre was developed by Ferrari and Pirelli in the joint Homologation process. Special compounds and designs are used to give the best possible performance, grip and wear and help reduce apparent road noise from these giant 20” diameter tyres.

The tyres were sourced direct to ensure the newest available production batch of tyres were used. This ensures the owner would get the most use out of these tyres before they age beyond usable life. As most of these cars tend to not get the mileage use of daily driven cars, selecting the newest tyres available helps avoid having to change the tyres early before they wear out due to age.
