In some cases we have saved our customers in excess of £2500, let alone someones life, when we have spotted and replaced, illegal and/or bald tyres on their cars.

The tyre pictured above was recently changed by one of our centres and just shows how easy it is to forget about your tyres if you don’t check them regulary.

Our advise is to check the condition of your tyres regularlyto be certain they are not damaged or worn out. Having an illegal tyre on your car can incur 3 penalty points on your driving licence and a fine of up to £2,500 per illegal tyre.
(Having four worn tyres could potentially loose you your driving licence & incur afine of up to £10,000).

Regular tyre checks could also find cuts & abrasions that could be illegal or be apuncture or an accident waiting to happen.

UK Tyre Law

The UK tyre lawrequires a minimum of 1.6mm of tread depth, which is measured across thecentral ¾ of the of the tyre, in a continuous band around the circumference ofthe tyre.

All vehicles shouldbe fitted with the correct tyre size & type suitable for the vehicle andthe purpose it has been designed/used for.

The car must have the right tyres fitted and they must beinflated to the manufacturer’s recommended tyre pressure for safety reasons.
All of our centres will check your tyre pressures free of charge.

For safety reasons, it is recommended that you replace yourtyres with 3mm of tread remaining. This is above the legal limit but at 1.6 millimetres, inwet weather conditions, it takes an extra two car lengths (8 metres) to stop your car from50 mph than if your tread was at 3mm.

Mixing brands and patterns of thesame construction type is permissible depending on the vehicle type andmanufacturers recommendation. We will, however, always recommend you have matchingtyres across an axle even though the front tyres may be a different brand onthe rear axle.
