2020 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4

The GT4 version of the Porsche 718 Cayman is a stripped back, track-inspired car with a minimalist interior built around a simply incredible normally aspirated and centrally located 4.0 6 Cylinder engine producing 420PS, revving to an incredible 8000rpm. 0-62mph is over in only 4.4seconds, top speed is 195mph.

The power is all delivered to the rear wheels through what surely will be one of the last outings for the 6 speed Manual transmission for Porsche. This makes the GT4 a real driver’s car and is sure to earn the car a place firmly in the “future classic” category.

The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 Tyre

The Cayman visited our Skegness depot for a full set of Michelin tyres. The Pilot Sport Cup2 is Michelin’s Road Legal track tyre. Built for drivers who demand a high-performance tyre with precision handling in track conditions.

The GT4 is essentially a road legal track car, it was a great option for Porsche to select these incredible tyres for their high-performance version of the 718 Cayman.

Seen here in front size 245/35ZR20 N1 and rears 295/30ZR20 N1, this staggered setup maximises the width of the rear tyre to ensure as much as of the power can be used.

The narrower front tyre still has a width of 245. The narrower section width ensuring steering precision and reducing risks of aquaplaning and tramlining, while also improving road feel through the steering wheel.

The Cup2 not only delivers the highest performance for dry grip conditions. In testing it was found to last up to 40% longer than its competitors. This “Track Longevity 2.0” technology allows you to push harder for longer without the hassle of changing your tyres mid-way through your track day.

The Cup2 is available in over 40 sizes in 19-21” diameters for nearly all major car manufacturers with homologation sizes found in Mercedes (MO/MO1), Porsche (N0/N1/N2/ND0), Bmw*, Audi (AO), Ferrari (K1/2) and Jaguar (J).
