Tyre Safety Month October 2023 – Be safe and save…

Article written by Bush Tyres Tyre Safety Checks

Now that we are in the final week of Tyre Safety Month 2023, we cannot forget the importance of regular tyre checks. Remember to A.C.T and check Air pressures, Conditions and Treads regularly.

The future for Tyresafe.org

Tyresafe.org activities continue to help reduce Tyre related incidents on the road throughout the year. The Tyre Safety marketing campaigns and surveys help key stakeholders make important decisions about how to reduce tyre related incidents in the UK.

TyreSafe’s relationship with road safety partnerships across the UK continues to grow. The organisation currently has over 130 official supporters including tyre, car and van manufacturers and retailers, insurers, fleet operators, dealer groups and equipment suppliers.

This supporter base continues to diversify. TyreSafe is supported by many other agencies, charities and organisations including the National Roads Policing Operations and Intelligence group, National Fire Chiefs Council, National Highways, Trading Standards, Road Safety GB, the Camping and Caravanning Club and several local councils.

In 2022 over 27% of old tyres checked in their survey were below the legal 1.6mm limit. Over 70% of all tyres checked were either illegal or below 2mm at the time of replacement.

Their conclusion from this was a staggering 10 million car tyres a year are estimated to be used in illegal condition. We must all work together to reduce tyre related incidents to keep everyone safe on the road.

FREE Tyre Checks

Bush tyres continue to offer free checks for all our customers throughout the year. Just because the “Be safe and save” campaign is coming to an end; this should not mean an end to checking your tyres regularly.

TyreSafe Tyre Safety Checks

Car tyres can often go unchecked between MOT and annual service. We recommend tyre checks are carried out before any major journeys, and ideally check your tyres once a month for Air pressure, Condition, and Tread.

We can carry out these checks for you, ideally at least twice a year depending on your mileage.

A handy reminder is when the clocks change, think about popping in to see us for your FREE tyre check. If you change from summer to winter tyres, this is also a helpful reminder to start thinking about changing them over.

Tyre Safety isn’t just for Tyre Safety month. Our teams of tyre professionals are dedicated to keeping our customers safe on the roads all year round.

We encourage all our customers to take advantage of our FREE tyre checks. To book your appointment contact your local branch or simply pop in for up-to-date help and guidance for your tyre safety.
